Bathroom Countertops

A countertop is a working space that is at a suitably elevated height. Countertops are used in kitchens, bars and bathrooms. Bathroom countertops are used for a host of bathroom activities.

They should be suitably located so that it is comfortable to work on them and they suit the shape of the bathroom. Countertops are custom-designed according to the user's needs and requirements. Being decorative is an important function of a countertop.

There are an endless number of creative designs that can be used for countertops. The most common materials used to make countertops are marble, granite, ceramics, metals and plastic fibers. Plastic countertops are cheaply manufactured and can be acquired in a variety of colors and exteriors.

Most people like to have their own custom-designed plastic countertops. The most flexible material to use that can give the countertop whatever precise looks wanted by the owner is the ceramic & china tile.

Granite is possibly the most expensive material used to produce countertops. These countertops can be obtained in a host of designs, textures and styles. Their cost depends on the availability and value of granite.

They are available in plain colors as well as in a textured look. Wood is not frequently used to construct countertops because it cannot withstand moisture for long periods.

These countertops are very prone to water damage and are difficult to maintain. Wooden countertops are used only after applying a lavish coat of varnish or some protective chemical agent.

Countertops should be sealed extra carefully around their rim to prevent any leakages or seeping of water. Countertops are given fancy finishing making them look more decorative and appealing. Some surfaces like marble, granite and so on may suffer damages due to the action of strong cleaning agents used and hence should be treated with utmost care.
