However flushing systems do not treat the waste matter adequately. It merely sends it to the drainpipe to which it is connected. These pipelines then carry the waste matter to the sewage treatment plants, which are constructed separately.
In the flush bowl there is some amount of water present that acts as a seal and prevents the sewage matter or fumes from re-entering the bowl. A jet of water flowing into the bowl by the flushing mechanism generates the working of the flushing system.
A storage tank, which can hold 7 to 11 liters, is used to contain the water needed by the system. This water is used efficiently at full pressure and volume so that the bowl is effectively cleaned.
The flushing system is set off by either pulling a chain or by pushing a button. Automatic flushing systems are also available which activate by themselves and save a lot of energy for the users. |
